Business cards are used for the promotion of a company by its employees. Usually a professional designer is hired to do the job. However Adobe Photoshop makes it easy for employees to design their customized business cards.

Image Selection and Background Color

It is very important that the right image and background color is selected for a business card. For instance, sharp colors like pink and green cannot be used for the background of a business card. This is because a business card needs to look professional and not cheap. It represents a company and is given to a number of high class businessmen in the corporate circle so a cheap colored background can spoil the reputation of the company. In other words, one can say that a business card represents a complete organization in the corporate sector. The first step is to select the size of the design palette which is normally 640 by 480 pixels. A larger size will increase the cropping work as a business card is small in size. After the background color is selected, a picture of the related person is imported. Now similar to the background color, the picture should be formal and professional. For instance a picture in shorts cannot be used for a business card.

Image Layer and Text Placement

A new layer is created for the imported picture so that it can be modified easily. The next step is to create white circles on the palette. These circles provide a design pattern as well a place for the picture. Normally the picture of the concerned person is placed on a white circle so that it is apparent to the maximum extent. However for the design, any other shape can be used. Now the image is moved to the desired location and a new layer is created for the text. The text contains fields like employee name and company designation. The last step is to place the text at the appropriate position and this completes the design process of the business card.
