Recollect the memories of our beautiful past when living was not as difficult as it is today. I am reminding you of the time when man had not manipulated the nature and impured it with it's so called scientific innovations.

It was the age when we could breathe pure air instead of arsenic and smog, when we had healthful water to drink instead of cholera and diaria source, when there were plenty of trees to purify the nature instead of skyrocketing suffocated man built arcades, when there was plenty of food instead of famines and hunger. The insane drive of humans towards scientific excellence has brought us to the brink of extinction and world is no more a place of peace and beauty.

Human Impact On The Environment

Human impact on the environment today has become much prominent and its devastating effects can be seen with naked eyes. It is astonishing to mention here that the number of deaths caused by roadside and other accidents during travelling, exceeds the number deaths caused by all historic wars. There are billions of vehicles that keep running day and night over the face of earth, mixing tons and tons of smoke with the air, leading to numerous skin diseases, lungs cancer, eye infections and other uncountable respiratory diseases. Most notable among the effects of pollution, is the thinning of ozone layer, resulting in general rise in temperature of the earth and anomalous climatic changes.

The thickness of ice of glaciers of Antarctica has reduced by 9% over past thirty years, and, if it persists at this rate, many continents will be under water within the period of a century. The sources of drinkable water are getting scarce and scarce and time is not very far when drinking water will be more expensive than petrol. The unchecked industrial waste and other chemicals from millions of factories round the globe is consistently and increasingly obliterating the drinkable water sources each day, every hour and every single second. The deforestation of millions of acres of land for so called developmental purposes has not only disturbed the natural habitat of wild life but endangered many species followed by severe climates, salinity and water logging of millions of hectors of land. If the pace at which we are consuming the natural resources of the earth continues, time is near when they will be exhausted. These ecological and environmental transformations may seem slow but they are eating away our living resources and the death of the earth is imminent.

Save the Environment

It is the need of the hour that we must make concerted efforts to safeguard our homeland. The concept of “Greening of Organizations” must be endorsed world wide, and, all the organizations must base their visions and missions on a triple bottom-line concept i.e. People, Planet and Profits. Each of us, in whatever capacity, should strive for this global cause and the rat race among nations be abandoned, to save the future of coming generations. We must, at least, preserve a little piece of land by hedging it from all human repercussions, to answer an innocent question of our coming generation; how the world looked like when it was born!
